Andrew Frei established the beginnings of this winery in 1890. In the late 1890's the vine disease phylloxera affected most of California's vineyards, yet Frei kept his vision alive. By 1904 the vineyard had increased in size and he turned it over to his two sons Walter and Louis. Frei Brothers Winery was born and since it has been a goal to craft wines that reflect the personality of the land and bring out the natural expression of the fruit. Grapes for each wine made are carefully chosen from select grapes, ensuring the best fruit from the right growing regions go into every bottle made.
